Overwhelming Response from Davao Students

One of the missions of USPF- Graduate School is to create programs that cater to the need of the busy professionals. Thus, an Alternative Learning Program was pioneered by the Graduate School. The ALP is now introduced in Davao del Norte.

The Graduate School professors of USPF visited Davao to conduct classes, orientation, and promotion last March 6-7, 2010. The orientation was given to 106 students present in order for them to be acquainted of the USPF thrusts, services, profile and programs.  Straight two days lecture were done by professors to provide a comprehensive coverage of the courses. Mrs Rosario E. Sequitin is manning the Social Work students; Professor Alvin Zamora is handling MAED students; Professor Glen Albutra is training the P.E. students and Dr. Bryant C. Acar is taking care of the Doctorate students. Davao-based professors: Dr. Arcilita Hugo, Dr. Alejandro Pizarras and Dr. Melanie Sugano were also supportive of the USPF graduate school programs.


During the second day, Mr. Neil Lacanlale, USPF Marketing Officer conducted a short orientation program and welcomed the Davao students as new addition to the USPF family and was proud to call them USPians. The students were encouraged to market the programs of USPF and promised to do their share by inviting their co-teachers and friends to enroll in USPF.


Professor Glen Albutra and his students in Master of Arts in Education major in Physical Education led the group in community dancing. Everybody was energized in the heart pumping routine introduced by the lead group. The community dancing was a tint flavor of the Dance Workshop that will be organized this summer of 2010. All dance enthusiasts, P.E. teachers, and choreographers were invited of the short training program of Dance Workshop to be held in Davao on May 2010. This is another initiative of the Graduate School.
 
USPF Receives PROGESOFT GRANT

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation gladly announces to its concerned faculty and students that ProgeSoft has granted us an unlimited ALL-FREE ProgeCAD (Computer Aided Design) 2010 Professional  software licenses effective April 30, 2010. ProgeCAD is one of the leading Computer Aided Design Programs used by the industry and academe Worldwide.

The licenses allow the installation of ProgeCAD in all USPF - CCS Computer laboratories, Research rooms and the College Internet Library Laboratory. Thanks to the USPF College of Computer Studies for having completely processed the requirements for this GRANT.

USPian Accountancy Students Excel in the
National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants’ Annual Convention

University of Southern Philippines Foundation-College of Accountancy takes pride with the recent achievement of its students in the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants’ Annual Convention last April 20-22, 2010 at the Playa Resort Hotel, Ilocos Norte. This event was participated by various colleges and universities all over the country.

Joseph Angelo Mancera was the Champion in the National Federation Cup for Auditing Theory Category, Third Placer for the Management Advisory Services Category and the First Placer in the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest. Mr. Mancera was also awarded as the Outstanding JPIAn.

The award for Most Outstanding JPIA President was given to Michael Angelo Abarcar. He also won the Third Place for Essay Writing Contest.

Another Third Placer in the Auditing and Business Law Categories was bagged by Mr. Jecon Bonsucan.

This achievement is a manifestation of excellence in instruction in the University of Southern Philippines Foundation – College of Accountancy.
 
USPF High School Class of ’97 reunites at Portofino Beach Resort

USPF High School Class of ‘95 smiles for a group picture

The 2nd meeting for the Dec 2010 reunion was presided by one of HS ‘95 reunion organizers Ms. Jessica Gail Nimer-Bael with USPF- OAR Dir. Kathleen Solon-Villaneza took place in April 23, 2010 at the 3rd floor of the Lahug Brgy. Hall thru classmate Councilor Richter Castanares.  HS Class of 95 will hold the 3rd meeting on May 25.

ARMS Lecture Series Equips USPF’s March 2010 Graduating Class

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Office for Alumni Relations (OAR) in partnership with USP High School Class of 1985 through Miss Rolette Escandor, USPF alumnus Mr. Ace Acedillo, and Pizza Hut Ayala through its marketing manager and USPF alumna Miss Beverly Buenconsejo proudly held the 2nd season of USPF Alumni Relations Movement to Serve (ARMS) Lecture Series under the theme “Reconnecting life-long partners of USPF: their experience, our inspiration” last March 17, 2010 at the USPF Moot Court.

GS Holds CPET Culminating Program

The Graduate School of University of Southern Philippines Foundation organized a culminating program for the graduates of the Certificate Program for Elementary Teaching in English and Makabayan subjects on April 10, 2010 at the Moot Court. USPF is one of the host schools to accommodate in the training of elementary teachers. CPET is realized through the effort of the City Government through the leadership of Hon. Joy Augustus Young. The said occasion was attended by USPF president- Dr. Alicia P. Cabatingan; education consultant – Hon. Joy Augustus Young; and DepEd Representative – Mr. danilo Gudelosao.


In the speech of Dr. Cabatingan, she said,”The strength of the school cannot rise over and above the strength  of its faculty,” and so training of teachers are important since they are the front-liners and deliverers of quality and excellent education. More so, Hon Young expressed his pride of congratulating the teachers for sacrificing and exerting an extra mile to learn and re-learn.

Dr. Lucila S. Bonilla and Mr. Alvin Zamora, CPET teachers had their fair share of talks in the program. As announced, the second batch of CPET training for Grades 1-3 will commence this June 2010.
   
USPF HS Class of 2000 Celebrates a Decade of Friendship

The long labor of preparing for the 10th year anniversary of friendship and love for the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) finally paid off as reunion organizers USPF P.E.O.P.L.E. awardee Miss Genie Rose Gonzales and Mr. Carl Louie Tayabas put to reality their MTV Music Awards concept for USPF High School Class of 2000 (or the Y2K batch) under the theme: “From Oblivion to Reunion” last March 20, 2010 at Cebu White Sands.

their 15th Anniversary
